The following Table lists and describes the various types of approved Color Call appearances. For situations not included in this list, contact your Assistant Marshal for guidance. Color Corpsmen are authorized to stand Casket Guard at wakes of Fourth Degree members, members of the Clergy and Religious, only. Guard services cannot be provided for others (including Third Degree Knights) since such precedents would increase the number of calls and diminish the honor reserved for our Sir Knights, Clergy and Religious. Color Corpsmen are encouraged to attend the wakes and funerals of Third Degree Knights and members of their families as a matter of respect, but not "in color" or as Casket Guard. These are meetings (not drills) of the Color Company or the Assembly which are held to discuss plans and activities specifically related to the Company itself. It does not include attendance at the monthly Master's Meeting, which is not a call out. If the installation Ceremony is held during or following a Mass at which the Color Company participates, then a Call Out is counted for the Mass as well as the installation. These are Call Outs of all Battalions for events such as Bishops Funerals, the Exemplification and related Practices, Installation of State Officers, Bishop's Escorts at the state Convention, etc. Although some Regimental calls can be for Masses or Funerals, they should be reported under this category only. These are appearances at events that are held one-time, or infrequent basis, such as papal Visits, Diocesan Pilgrimages and so forth. |
